We have two winners!

Looks like our crew is really celebrating doesn't it!  That's because we had over 100 entries for our rainy day give-away with the help of Pieces by Polly, who even introduced me to rafflecopter.  I guess automation is okay, although I kind of like hollaring up the staircase at my husband "hey honey, I need two numbers between one and one hundred and nineteen."  He always picks good winners, too - and I pay him in kisses!

So we chose two winners and they are: Leah and Heidi!!  So their boxes will be going out tomorrow, and in each box will be six pieces for a total of 3 yards! I would show you their fabrics, but unfortunately, I still cannot get my camera working{={  So I borrowed my husbands camera - and I can't get it to talk to my computer - who invented these things anyway?!?

Tomorrow I'm going to go shopping for a new camera, a friendly one I hope!  Anybody have any suggestions?

Well, it's raining again....

Polly over at Pieces by Polly  made a darling quilt using some fabrics she got from me recently. You should definitely hop over to her blog as she is posting about it today, and I think you'll find it a fun quilt.  While you are there, be sure to enter the drawing we're having.

bolts we got in a couple of weeks ago - we've had a bunch more arrive since then

That's right, since we pretty much sold out of the fabrics in Polly's quilt during a recent sale, someone is going to be the lucky winner of a selection of new fabrics we just got in.  I'd post a picture of them, but my camera fried and died this week, and I haven't bought a new one yet. So the prize package will really be a surprise!  If you want to check out some of the new fabrics we've been getting in, just click and go to the website!

Now for more chances to win you have several options: post a comment here, like us on facebook, post a comment over at Pieces by Polly, like her on facebook.  See four chances to win and all fairly painless. And with the holidays coming around the corner, who wouldn't want to win some great new fabrics!?

And if we have more then 100 entries, I'll add a second prize, just for fun!  We'll post the winner(s) on Sunday after noon August the 11th - good luck!
I've never tried rafflecopter before, but Polly recommended it so here we go.

The Other Giveaway winner

Finally some pictures of what Courtney won!  I have been having a terrible time with my camera - everything is coming out really dark, but we will see how these show up! In Courtney's box there is a book panel, Elf on the Shelf and some peppermint chevron fabric to 'go with'.

There is also a Beary Fun Day panel and two supporting fabrics. You can't really see it in this poor picture, but the blue fabric has cute little mice all over it!

And then there are three pieces from each of the two new groups we just got in: Gettysburg on the left and Twelve Days of Christmas on the rignt. All of these fabrics are from Quilting Treasures, and all of them are on our website.
And just for fun
this Dresden Plate has been hanging in the shop for the last little while. It was pieced and quilted by my husbands Grandmother and Great Grandmother I don't know how long ago. After they were both gone, his Mother took it home intending to bind it, but after she went to the nursing home we found it, still in the original box (thirty years old) and the binding fabric folded up inside the quilt, waiting to be finished. So it came home with me, and I did the binding, making a four generation quilt out of it. It has pride of place in my living room, except when it is on display here in the shop for special occasions.

Rainy Day Winner!

Remember our Rainy Day? Well, we have a winner! So from our newest shipment of fabric we're going to cut her some pieces - first ones off the bolt.  Wanna bet she has fun with these?  Lucky Courtney, her fabric is on the way!

A Winner, A Question, An Other Drawing

A winner - a winner is Happy Cottage Quilter!

She has won a charm pack of Collections for a Cause - Mill Book Series 1835.
I'm not a big fan of that era in fabrics, but this group is very appealing to me. Fancy that.  I hope Jocelyn enjoys this little treat. It comes with two pieces of Collection - Historical Blenders - that we just got in. So they went out in the mail today!

Now you may be asking yourself " Why in the world would she leave a trash can sitting right in the middle of the walkway?  And doesn't she ever put up all those bolts sitting around on the floor?"   Well! there's a reason for the trashcan, as a matter of fact there are at least 23 others of the same ilk sitting around the shop last Saturday!  And if you'd like to win a packet of new fabrics, just in the door and the new smell still on them, leave a comment: The million dollar question is :(where is that drumroll when you need it?)  The question is WHY is that trashcan sitting in the middle of the walkway?

A winner will be pulled from the hat on Sunday, June 28th at 12:00 noon Mountain time.  And if you need a hint, pop on over to Granma's Charms where you can even see some of the new fabrics just in.

See you soon!

We have a mystery

Remember a couple of weeks ago when we had three winners?
And I posted this picture of the three prizes I was shipping out to the lucky ladies?
Well, one of them contained a mystery!

When Karen opened her package, folded inside the package was this small brown envelope.
She asked if I sent it by mistake, and I can honestly say I never saw it before in my life!

I don't even know how it got it the folds of the fabric- we cut up one yard cuts when we get to end of bolt, and fold and pin them so they stay neat and tidy.

So we have a mystery - Karen thought she'd send the package on, and a letter of how it came to her - But the question still is - how did it get to me? I'd never even heard of this company before!
(And yes I messed up the photo of the address - protecting the innocent I hope)

OH - leave a comment on this post and you too could win a 'mystery' package!
Tell me - did you ever get somebody's mail by accident?
We'll pick a winner on Sunday the 14th - noon my time!

Three winners and two great new products

We finally arrived at our three winners! All three turned out to be quilter / sewist types, so their prizes are very similar:
Paula@SewyStuff, KT, and Carolyn each received a box containing
a one yard fabric cut, 4 fat quarters, a quilt pattern, 2 speciality buttons, and a friendship star block kit.
Have fun girls, and thank you for entering our first give away!

Secondly, we just got two great products I am really excited about!
This one is Presencia pearl cottons. In 5 gram balls of size 12, and 130+ beautiful colors, I can see big improvements coming in my embroidery skills. I keep going back to open the drawers and make sure they are really there. More exciting than chocolate, don't you think?

The second is Cascade Yarns! Pictured is the 220 Super Wash Wool. It feels just heavenly and I normally don't care for wools.  So I'm excited to make something just for me (NOT a shop sample this time) in that fabulous red!

You can find both the Presencia pearl cotton and the Cascade yarns over at you keep me in stitches, along with lots of other yarns, Presencia floss and threads, and some beautiful fabrics.
Heather is typing as fast as she can to get all the new goodies on site.  There just might be something you're looking for!

Finally the starting gate

We are about to get this project ready to open!  As some of you know, we closed the shop for a couple of months while I took care of my Mom in her last days.  She is finally at peace, and we have been rearranging and refocusing our plan for the future. As much fun as the old shop was, it was becoming very labor intensive for this little old lady to handle.  So, some changes:

You may notice things are kind of sparse.  I have been trying for some time to simplify my life, and I'm going to apply the same principles here in the store.  Less can really be more.
So we have thinned our fabrics, and reorganized them - this is the new wall that is all basics and blenders - more to come!

We are expanding our line of Presencia threads.  We currently carry their 100% cotton quilting threads, and their embroidery floss - look at those beautiful colors!  We hope to have in the next few weeks their pearl cottons - I've been playing with size twelve in my embroidery, and I love it - especially not having to divide threads, since I tend to twist them up into knots!

We sold off a lot of fabrics, and have condensed them to one room, more or less, and will be adding some new, fun lines to the mix.

We have expanded our yarn selection, and are expecting Cascade 220 Superwash and Pima Cotton Yarns to arrive soon.  As well as Clover Bamboo needles we are carrying HiyaHiya in Bamboo, and now have Artisan Square knitting needles.  I didn't think I'd like them, but oh boy, yes I do!

And we have greatly expanded our Counted Cross Stitch kits, and stamped embroidery.
What used to be one 4 foot section is now two walls of their own.

Most all of these items will be available on our new website, which is just now up.  Heather is loading product as fast as she can, and I help out when I have time =-)

So this is our new sign - you'll see it in the front window as you drive thru town - if you are ever traveling this way, please stop in!

And in honor of our new "opening"  we are doing a give-away!  So leave us a comment, tell us what your favorite stitchery interests are, and the winners (3 of them) will receive a box full of goodies to fit their interests! I can't really show you a picture, since I don't know who's interests will win, but it will be something fun!  We will draw three winners on Sunday, June 23rd, at 1:00 MDT.  Please be sure we have a way to contact you to get a mailing address. And you must comment with your Stitchery interests.

Beginnings

Welcome to the Simple Stitch!

This new  blog came out of a conversation I've had many times in the shop.  A customer admiring a display sample in the shop would say 'OH, I wish I could (knit) (crochet) (sew) quilt', and my response would be 'but You can, it all begins with a simple stitch!'

If you learn to crochet a chain, you can make your own jewelry!
One pair of knitting needles and a ball of yarn
and you can create a scarf with a simple knit stitch.
Learn to sew a simple seam, and you can make aprons, table linens,
curtains and so much more!
With a needle and thread you can learn one stitch that will let you quilt for the rest of your life!

And when you know just that one stitch, then you can learn one more stitch
and it will open up a whole new world of possibilities!

Don't you agree?
